eu member states

The EU Member States (MS) provide important steering to the India-EU Water Partnership (IEWP) and are the backbone of it. Several of the EU MS are already active in India on River Basin Management Planning, Groundwater Management, Wastewater Management, Water Related Capacity Building, and Water Research and Development. The IEWP aims for synergies the existing cooperation activities of the EU Member States in India through:

  • Mutual technical contributions to IEWP as well as EU MS bilateral events.
  • Mutual promotion of IEWP as well as bilateral activities between India and MS.
  • Joint activities to achieve improvements in River Basin Management in India.
  • Involvement of EU MS experts to support the achievement of joint aims.
  • Involvement of EU businesses through the IEWP into the Indian Water Sector.
  • Joint contributions to improved stakeholder involvement.

To achieve the above, the IEWP enters into cooperation with EU Member States through joint Expression of Intents (EoIs) or Memorandum of Understandings (MoUs). EoIs are already in place with some EU Member States. They are being deliberated with other EU Member States as well.
